Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies
Washington, D.C., United States
JCPES's mission is to inform and illuminate the nation's public policy debates through research, analysis, and information dissemination in order to improve the socio-economic status of black Americans and other minorities, expand their effective participation in the political and public policy arenas, and promote communication and relationships across racial and ethnic lines to strengthen the nation's pluralistic society. For over three decades, JCPES has documented and analyzed the political and economic status of blacks and other minority populations. Research and analyses address critical issues in four key areas: (1) political participation; (2) economic advancement; (3) social policy, including a special interest in health policy; and (4) international affairs. Beyond this research, JCPES programs focus on intergroup relations in the United States, business relationships, and collaborations among minority groups.
