Centre for Bhutan Studies
CBS was established as an autonomous organization that conducts historical and contemporary studies of relevance to Bhutan; publishes journals, occasional research papers, and definitive and authoritative documents on Bhutan; commissions research studies by Bhutanese scholars and institutions; encourages research and publications in both Dzongkha (the national language) and English; facilitates training in research skills and analysis through internships for Bhutanese individuals; collaborates with other agencies on basic research of mutual interest; hosts lectures and seminars by Bhutanese and foreign scholars; and acts as a clearinghouse for information on research and studies being conducted in Bhutan and abroad by foreign institutes and individuals. CBS is governed by a council comprising individuals with a broad knowledge of the culture, development issues, literature, language, and history of Bhutan.
